"Marquis Cabinets has been environmentally
friendly since before "GREEN" became popular. The combination of
green products and environmentally friendly business practices have been
beneficial not only to the environment, but as a common business decision for
the long term future of the company."
James Koch, President & CEO
All Koch Cabinets are CARB Phase II compliant.
Cabinet boxes can be built with NAUF particle board for large projects. Check with the cabinet office for more details.
RECYCLING: Koch has implemented recycling programs for
cardboard, solvents, saw dust and paper. We are using recycled paper for our new
literature, which can also be e-mailed in a PDF form to our customers. Computers
have been installed throughout the production plant so that logs can be viewed
instead of printing them each day.
PRODUCTION WASTE REDUCTION: Several pieces of equipment
have been introduced to help eliminate waste, including optimizing chop saws and
nested based routers. Higher grades of pre-ripped lumber are being purchased,
reducing waste of natural materials as well as reducing energy used to haul
waste away.
FLAT LINE SPRAY SYSTEM: A flat line spray system was
recently implemented, reducing our natural gas usage by 20%. The system, along
with the change in the finishes used, releases no HAPs (Hazard Air Pollutants)
into the environment and has significantly reduced the VOCs (Volatile Organic
Compounds) emitted. Finish scraped from the machine at the end of the day is
then recycled the following day.
LIGHTING: New high efficiency fluorescent lighting has been installed in
areas of Koch's production plants, reducing the energy used by 25%.
TRANSPORTATION: Koch is encouraging its employees from long distances to
car pool by purchasing vans to transport employees to work. Hybrid cars have
also been purchased for traveling sales people.
LOCATION: Koch and Co., Inc. is centrally located, reducing fuel energy
for most customers.
